Syncronicity watch: balloons

I noticed this little guy trapped at my subway station. If I could have set him free I would have. Are balloons following me home from California? What does it all mean? Maybe we are all filled with hot air and need to float around more.

AJ & Loretto Seles!

Last weekend I was in Palm Springs, California to photograph the wedding of some old friends from RISD. I was also a guest, and it was wonderful. AJ and Loretto are talented and crafty and put everything together themselves. I loved being a part of it and being at the Ace Hotel out there in the desert. I cannot tell you how much I love pools. I have a separate wedding blog, to showcase all the amazing weddings I have been a part of recently, but I had to share this picture....I wish I had that elephant in my house. p.s. if you know anyone looking for a wedding photographer, send them my way.

Tintype cat, July 2008

It takes a while to make a tintype. Prep the glass, set up your picture, get it all ready, pour the solution, run over to camera, get the picture, run back, develop it and pray. I remember John Coffer telling me a cat was not good subject matter for a tintype because you know, cats really listen and obey. This was 2008 at a tintype workshop I took with John and some other really talented folks in Dundee, NY. Except this kitty was my friend and he was ready for his closeup. The fact that the cat is almost off the frame is entirely my fault, that cat was super special. He had many toes and followed me everywhere I went for 3 days. John offered that I could take him with me if I wanted. I was pretty sure he would have been psyched about the constant supply of food, but not about the little Brooklyn apartment compared with 30 acres of fields to mouse.

Annabelle NYC has a new store!

TODAY, March 4, 2011, my old friend Anna McCraney is opening a store at 105 Stanton Street in New York. This is HUGE. If you know me or have read this blog in the past, you might know I have shot a lot of work for various lookbooks and campaigns of Anna's in the past. I might have also played a wolf in a fashion show of hers....maybe. But, I definitely am a big fan of her fashion, as well as giant fan of Anna herself. We did a special ceremony at the new store recently and I have a really good feeling this is going to work out like gangbusters for her, as well as for Melissa Lopez-Leach, her lovely Retail Manager.

Fashion Week favorites

Yesterday I made a page on my website where you can see some of my favorite images from NY Fashion Week. I really loved the project and a big thanks to Kelley Ireland-Kelly at Sundance/FFF, as well as Indigo Clarke for being such a great team.
