Mount Snow, Connecticut

In the suburbs, big trucks haul snow they don't know what to do with to random parking lots and parks, like the one across the street from my Dad's house. It is starting to melt now but Dad pointed out that with the fresh snow wind-swept atop the mass of dirty snow it looks like the Himalayas. As if we were in a plane looking down.

Big news! Going to Europe - sublet my place!

Big news: I am honored to have been offered two artist residencies this Spring; one in Portugal, and one in France, so I am very excited to be going to Europe for two months. Both residencies will offer me the chance to take the time and resources available to explore further ideas about documenting a place in order to identify with the people in that place, and in a sense myself, as I am the unseen observer.

That also means I am looking for some lucky person to sublet my apartment during that time. If you would be interested in a lovely duplex apartment in Williamsburg, Brooklyn from May 8 - July 2 or later, please email me for more information, pictures etc.

4x8 for Resource Magazine

Yesterday Resource Magazine sent me over to photograph Joe & John of The 4x8 Workshop for a profile in the magazine. 4x8 build sets for the fashion industry and the like, including the Anna Sui show I was at the previous night. Small world!

Mount Olivet Cemetary, January 2011

Is there anything more desolate than a cemetery in winter, under a foot of snow? Don't answer that. Yet, those footsteps in the snow are not mine. It was cold. Today is warmer.

Outtakes

Fashion Week is winding down here in New York. I have been on a fashion marathon; luckily they give out free water in the tents, and wine too. Working with Kelley over at Sundance Channel/Full Frontal Fashion has been a real pleasure, because she hired me to do what comes naturally, to observe and maybe to catch something someone else might not see....

millions of photographers at the Tibi show. but every show is like this. the sound of them all going at once is lovely.hair and makeup area backstage, after the train has pulled out of the station.millions of tiny birds on the bare trees in the park across from the Plaza Hotel. The sound of them chattering to eachother is magical...I hear them saying.."Spring is coming!"..."Oh, I know! I can feel it too!"Self-portrait in the ladies room at Bergdorf Goodman.

Full Frontal Fashion!

My pictures went up on the Sundance Channel/Full Frontal Fashion website today from day one, yesterday, of New York Fashion Week. Today was another action packed day for me...fake cops, dead goldfish, lingerie, wine, lots of beautiful clothes, and the strange and very unfamiliar urge to want to wear 4" heels....what is happening to me? I hope it continues.

Fashion week incoming...

I am very excited to be asked to photograph backstage again this year for Sundance/Full Frontal Fashion at some of the shows next week...hopefully I can post some of it here. They moved the whole madness to Lincoln Center. I love the Upper West Side. This photo is from the Band of Outsiders presentation last year.

Song of the day....Save It For Later

It's been a long while since I posted a song. This is a real good one...oldie but great. Save It For Later by The English Beat. Oh my god it is February! Does this mean the snow is almost over?
