last moments of a home

Thrift stores and Salvation Army stores, white elephants and estate sales, all are chock full of the remnants of a life gone past, often a life just ended. I find it sweet, the intimate intermingling of t-shirts, backpacks, egg-beaters, sandals and arm chairs of acres of dead folks with other people's dead folks.

Here is my grandparent's old condo in the north suburbs of Chicago, just before we moved everything out last week, with just the odd bits of furniture left over from 83 years of sniffing around this dusty old planet.

Lake Michigan, right off the tower in Wilmette, IL

just returned from an intense trip to Chicago, then back, then up to New Hampshire for an hour....1400 miles in 3 days...yikes! more pictures to come very soon, plus I have to get back to work on the baby project. Lake Michigan always impresses me with it's ability to look decidedly more ocean-like than lake.

one baby, two baby, three...

I have 2 friends that had babies last week and 12 more people I know that are pregnant right now, probably more (yes, seriously 12). Probably you are too right now as you read this...are you pregnant? No? Well, I would go check if i were you.
I think art is partly about taking what is happening around you and making something of it, so I have been thinking a good project could come out of all this fecundity. Today I photographed 2 sweet little boys, Cameron and Freddy. It is on film, so the real pics will have to wait, but here are a couple digi pics of my friend Natalie and her 6 month old son Freddy Blu. Click on them to see them larger, please, he deserves it. And welcome to planet earth Charlotte and Preston! It's pretty nuts down here. Also, if there are any babies out there in the NYC area that would like their picture taken, hit me up.
