Adrienne the Egg, part 2

So time went on at the farm normally until the big day: first day of summer! Walter was the first one in the pond. Everyone was relaxing, even Mom, with some gin. The Lulu heard a crack! Wow!A Salamander. Bet you didn't see that coming, did you?

found: Jeffris family pictures from a trip to Scotland, circa 1918?

when my Bepop died last fall, I took just a few pictures from his office, and am about to take a trip back to Chicago to help clear out the place for good. Here are a few of the strange tiny brownie pictures I found. They must have been taken by a relative of my grandmother, whose family was from Scotland and the Shetland Islands. I am guessing this is about 1915-1920? Some of them are marked, so I know they visited Stirling Castle, near Edinburgh.
that's some serious gypsy business

Archives

I am excited about all the older work I have been scanning in with this fancy new Epson scanner I received as a Christmas gift from my mom. Thanks mom! So far I have been going through images from the round-the-world trip I took with my Father and Laura and Sam in 2001-2002, which has turned up many hidden gems I have not looked at in years. These will be making their way into several volumes of archives that I am self-publishing at Lulu.com.

archives: Memom and Bepop

Here are my grandparents getting a boat ready, I would say in the late 60's or early 70's. I love this picture; the lines of the dock, and the boat, and her arm - it's very well composed. Family snapshots like this one were the ones that didn't make it into the album, but then a grandaughter who wasn't born when this was taken finds it in a box and tucks it into her sketchbook to take home. I like to remember.

archives: Washington, DC, 2004

This is from April of 2004 when I went to DC for the pro-choice rally on the mall. The weather and scenery that day seemed out of the ordinary to me. Washington seems to be on the mind these days for me and many others. Sometimes the glimmer of hope is almost too powerful and painful to really see, and in this way I have felt that politics has been something unmentioned for some eight years now, wars, terrorism, patriot acts and the like. But with the new administration, at least it isn't scary to go to DC, and to hope that maybe things will change, for the better. A speedy end this needless war and I would be content for some time.

archives: Marathon 2004

This is at Calyer and Greenpoint Ave, back when I lived with Greg and Andrew on Lorimer Street. If you had told me then I would be a runner, I would have laughed really hard, while smoking. Will I ever run the marathon? I highly doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

p.s. how awesome is Tuesday going to be, actually Wednesday morning?
