watch this: Destino by Dali.....so wonderful!

Destino, a short film by Salvador Dali, done in 1946 at Walt Disney Studios! (It won't let you embed the film)
"Work on Destino, a seven-minute animated short, began in 1946 but wasn't completed and released until 2003. It contains many hallmarks of the surrealist painter's work: melting timepieces, telephones, figures morphing into each other, even the "ants in the hand" trick seen in 1929's Un Chien Andalou." -USA Today, 12/10/10

Beachfront winter

I love their shoes. I love everything about this picture; it looks like one I would have taken, and someone related to me did take it, maybe 80 years ago. The beach is surely one of the great lakes, not any ocean, but still you can look out and imagine what lies beyond where you are.

Baby it's cold outside....but

not this cold. My family on my dad's side is from Northern Wisconsin. Imagine that in winter, but in 1920s when these pictures were taken. No snowblowers, commercial plows, central heating, Obama, cell phones, heated car seats, flights to Jamaica, Mexican restaurants, electric fondue pots, etc. You know what I'm talking about Kristina?

September 20, 2010 collages

Here are some ladies that went to high school at Dana Hall with my Grandmother Roys. I got her old yearbooks last fall when I cleared out my grandparents old place. I cut out the heads and made these...I was able to peer into their inner most thoughts and wishes...you can click on them to see bigger!

Did I tell you I shoot weddings?

well I do sometimes, and I think of it as a great honor. If you know anyone who got engaged on Christmas, send them the link to my wedding photo blog if you wouldn't mind. I am available in New York and the surrounding area of course, but also on Nantucket, as I have family there, and anywhere else for that matter. I love planes. Thanks!

This is not related to my work, my family or friends, but I would definitely buy this fox a beer if I had the chance.

A lovely guy I knew named Charlie died two years ago today. How strange that I am in Georgia. This is on Tybee Island. I imagine you visited this place when you were a kid Charlie.

Hello out there...

So in 2010 I had 3,321 visitors to this blog from 96 countries. And 2,134 visitors from 82 countries to my regular website, ewarfield.com. That pretty much blows my mind. What would we do without ye ol internet now? Was the world that much smaller before? Does it make us closer together, or farther apart, everyone at their own little screen. And now 2010 is over...welcome 2011.
