Outside the big cities it is even more noticeable because a shuttered auto dealership that sits empty indefinitely sticks out like a lonely, overgrown thumb. In Wallingford, Connecticut, this place sits empty on route 5, a road that exists in almost every town in America now, usually a mile farther away from the original center of town and lined with all the "big box" stores that killed the individual nature of small town America, or are trying their best. Baptiste, in late afternoon

Congratulations Anna!

A few weeks ago now my dear friend Anna McCraney won The Fashion Show on Bravo! I have been away in CT with limited internet so my oceans of tons of warm wishes and congratulations for her are belated, but it's pretty dang amazing. 56% of America voted for her to win the jackpot prize money, with which she will now proceed to conquer the fashion industry. Go Anna! This picture is from a slightly smaller show of hers in 2005, at Galapagos (RIP).

Mom at the Met, visiting Francis Bacon

I enjoyed the Francis Bacon show at the Met. A few years ago I was taking some pictures that several people commented reminded them of him, which made me happy. Especially this one of Sarah.
