RIP: some bird

Today on the 4th floor of a museum in New Haven with my dad, I was looking out the window and noticed the sad evidence of an avian flight path error, which I am sure must have killed him/her. maybe not. the most brutal part of it for me is the clear outline of the beak. birds really love art.

Take over my lease for 1/1/08 - $1350/month

So, I got an offer I couldn't refuse to move into my friends beautiful apartment on January 1, 2008. Only hitch is my current lease doesn not end until August 1, 2008. I would love to find someone to take over this place, which is a great apartment as well.

- working buzzer
- 4th floor in the back, so very quiet
- lots of sun
- roof access
- fire-escape outside bedroom
- self controlled heat (and you pay that seperate)
- all new appliances, all new everything really. they said the building was renovated 4 years ago.
- ramp entrance outside with space to lock up your bike

- 6 blocks to L at Montrose and 3 blocks to JMZ at Lorimer (20-30 minutes to Union Sq. including 6 block walk)

Danny Lyon at the the Whitney

go see Danny Lyon: Montage, Film, and Still Photography at the Whitney in NYC if you have time. I like the collages especially. They make it casual but more important at the same time.

Impressed by Light

I recommend this exhibit currently on at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC: Impressed by Light: British Photographs from Paper Negatives, 1840–1860. It is on view until 12/31/07.

For me one of many highlights is the four volume collection of the catalogue of the "1851 Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations at the Crystal Palace".

California: part uno in LA

I love LA again. Especially the food and the people. The driving, eh, I could do without, which is why I suppouse people get chauffers when they can't think of anything else to spend money on. I learned that fancy cars with no license plates usually belong to some famous person, and I saw Owen Wilson at Tacos Por Favor while lunching with sweet Whitney. Here she is with Robert in my old apartment on Sanborn St.

the Shortstop in Echo Park serves great cocktails....

cheers to my LA folks.

Kitty time

Cats fascinate me, even though I am violently allergic to them. Example A: the San Francisan beast Sochi who can hear mice in a wall from a block away. Just amazing. Also witness the intrepid spirit of our neighbor cats across the pond, Bus Cat, and the Stroll Cats.

Cooking with Memom, part 1

While visiting my Bepop (code for Grandpa) in January, I came across my Memom's (code for Grandma) boxes of recipes. I asked if I could keep them, well, because they are hilarious, and I miss my Memom. She died in 2001. If you should happen to have some time on your hands and decide to try one of these delicious recipes, please take a picture and send it to me. Today is suppousedly the first day of spring.

Sleepwalkers rules.

Lovely Lili and David from Primary Photographic (more about that soon) are some of my favorite people. They brought me along to Doug Aitken's happening at the MOMA last night, with Cat Power performing, and Hisham too. It was terrific and I really enjoyed being in the museum at night. Luckily I didn't take too many pictures at the after party in the basement of the Chelsea Hotel.

Ice on Lake Michigan

Another image of Lake Michigan from last week, because I can't get over how the ice was formed into these bizarre ice circles, like frozen jelly-fish. Went to see Pan's Labrinyth with Emily this past weekend, which I highly recommend, especially if you hate fascism.

Chicago is colder

Lake MIchigan. Cold but so lovely. The ice on the wires is from the crashing of waves up on the jetty.

circa 1983?, Indiana

I stumbled upon this picture of my cousin Liam and I today on my Uncle's computer, out here in Chicago. We stayed at a farm in Indiana for part of a summer, when I was about six, i am guessing. Vaughn's Farm.

Springtime in the city

Why does everyone want it to snow so badly? I recall it being quite difficult to get things done in three feet of snow, but what do I know - I like vaseline sandwiches.
