Tintypes

I am going upstate later this summer to a tintype workshop. Thought I would share the info if anyone else out there is interested in this sort of thing. The man who runs it is John Coffer. There is lots of talk about "camping" on his website, which, as many of you would guess, I will not be doing. I have a hankering for a cheap motel anyway, and upstate New York seems to be chock-full of those.

Obama in the LES on a sunny afternoon

here we have a contribution to my Obama project by my friend Harlan who added a little Barack flavor, some Bama-zest, if you will, to my picture of Faith from a few weeks ago. The real version is on my website. But doesn't he look lovely? He was just taking a quick reflective moment at the door to a womens clothing shop while his main aide, Mr. Love was grabbing some lemonades from Cake Shop across the street.

He's an alien from heaven

I mean, really, who is this guy? I got an Obama shirt today that looks like an old Bowie album cover. Are there ads in Hawaiian? Patois? I love him.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls, originally uploaded by dirtystan.

spent the weekend in Portland, Oregon with Andrew, Erin and David. I don't think I have ever seen a waterfall like this in person - it was pretty unbelievable. The coffee is very good out there too. It was a good time.

Cookin' with Ellen

My favorite pastime is making delicious food, especially since I moved into this apartment. Pies, Pizza, Kimchi-Jun, you know, all the classics. I have a project in mind involving cooking that will need plenty of eaters.

Sukie a.k.a. Ding-Dong

Meredith got a wheaton terrier puppy from an Amish farm in PA. Sukie is very awesome, but apparently doesn't like the rain so much on her tender 12 week old paws. imagine if you could have walked when you were 12 weeks old? Mermot calls her Ding-Dong a lot of the time, which I really enjoy.

Bernd and Hilla Becher at the MOMA, May 21

I really like factory buildings and art work that feels like research, so I have always admired the Bechers. MOMA is expensive, but I will go see this.
